ABOUT
Lori Ball is an American/Canadian Film and Television editor whose career in the entertainment industry began as a child actor in Arizona. She gained significant on-screen experience through countless commercials and television shows, including Carl Reiner’s The New Dick Van Dyke Show alongside Dick Van Dyke and Hope Lang, and the classic western film McMasters of Sweetwater where she played Jack Cassidy’s daughter. After graduating from high school, Lori moved to Los Angeles to continue pursuing acting while attending UCLA, where she earned a BA in English Literature. After assisting a friend one summer with editing a low-budget horror film, she discovered it was a captivating craft that merged her loves for both acting and storytelling. The experience was life-changing, and she recognized that editing demands meticulous attention to detail and a sharp eye for selecting authentic and impactful acting performances. For Lori, editing is a puzzle-solving craft, where narratives are sculpted through performance, pacing, music, and sound. Who wouldn’t want to be an editor?
Lori had the good fortune to be mentored by the esteemed editor Dody Dorn (Memento, Insomnia). Throughout her career, she has had the privilege of collaborating with several incredibly talented filmmakers, including John Waters, Michael Mann, Robert Rodriguez, and Mike White.
A proud member of both the Motion Picture Editors Guild and American Cinema Editors (ACE), Lori's work spans a range of genres, from romantic comedies and musicals to thought-provoking psychological thrillers. Her recent work on the highly acclaimed supernatural suspense thriller series, School Spirits, showcases her ability to weave intricate stories of murder and mystery. Lori has established a reputation as a highly creative and insightful film and television editor, known for her strong musical sensibility and wicked sense of humor.
